WhatsApp, the popular messaging app used by billions worldwide, recently unveiled a feature designed to protect user privacy.
Reports indicate that WhatsApp may soon implement a feature to allow users to communicate without disclosing phone numbers, according to WA Beta Info’s insights. Android and web users alike could create individual usernames to personalise their profiles for seamless connectivity between conversations.
Once a username has been chosen, their phone number remains confidential for maximum online safety and increased communication between users without needing to disclose personal contact info. Furthermore, users have more flexibility than ever in controlling privacy settings as changing usernames on-demand gives more control.
Notably, WhatsApp is also working on another feature that will allow users to search and connect using unique usernames for contacts – without sharing phone numbers! WA Beta Info shared a leaked screenshot showing this easy search method that would eliminate sharing phone numbers altogether.
Keep an Eye Out For in the Next Update
Username Customization Users can personalize their usernames to make connecting easier by eliminating phone number sharing altogether.
Security Guarantee: Choosing a username helps guarantee the confidentiality of personal data like phone numbers.
Flexibility: Users have the flexibility and control over their profile by being able to change their username at will. This gives them greater freedom when customizing and personalizing their profile.
WhatsApp Is Testing New Search Features WhatsApp has developed a feature which will allow users to search for others using only their username. Soon enough, no longer will knowing someone’s number be required in order to connect via WhatsApp; rather their unique username alone should suffice!
Privacy-focused updates will be implemented both for mobile apps and the web version, giving users a more secure messaging experience.
WhatsApp Dark Mode Is Now Live On the Web
In a previous WA Beta Info report, it was disclosed that WhatsApp has been working to implement a darker background color for its web version that will ease strain on user eyes in low light environments and be “specifically tailored” for this dark theme.
According to the report, switching from #111b20 – to #12181c will bring about significant yet subtle differences that will enhance visual appeal while decreasing eye fatigue.
WhatsApp has not officially confirmed their report stating this update would become available in an upcoming beta test version for beta testers. WhatsApp have also made various tweaks to their web version sidebar to accommodate beta test versions of this update.
