The accident was due to bad driving; fatality rates are estimated between 40%-51% per accident for single vehicle collisions on that route.
At 4:00am, Mobile Fire-Rescue received notice of an accident wherein a vehicle had rolled and become completely submerged by flames when they arrived on scene. Jakeira died on the spot despite their attempts to extinguish the fire. Mobile Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident.

Jakeira Washington was a 23 year old native of Sweet Water in Alabama. She had a promising career as a health care professional. Graduate of the University of South Alabama, Washington holds an associate degree in Health Care Administration. She earned her MBA in August of last year at The University of West Alabama.
Jakeira had been working at America’s Mitchell Cancer Center as Patient Service Coordinator since February. She was known not only for her academic accomplishments, but also for her work as an IT student assistant and as a Student Research Assistant at South Alabama.

Mobile Fire-Rescue was called to the scene of the accident, but Jakeira died on the spot. Mobile Police Department is investigating the circumstances leading to the accident.
