Griffith Anne Mason displayed energy and talent from her very early days. Griffith Ann Mason showed talent and energy from the very beginning. She began with loud cries as an infant and high kicks. Later, she participated in soccer in Texas middle school and grade school.
Her athleticism was not limited to field sports; it was also evident in her cheerleading activities. She was a member of the Highland Park Bell Team and later served as Varsity Cheerleader in Varsity competitions. She was also known as Silver Spur Sweetheart at the University of Texas, where she cheered alongside Bevo.
Academic Pursuits
Griffith earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Arts at the University of Texas at Austin. This academic field allowed her to focus on her artistic passions and creative expression. Griffith’s time at the University of Texas at Austin was not only academic, but also allowed her to explore her artistic talents and build a foundation for future endeavors.
Griffith embarked on a journey of discovery and exploration after graduating. She experimented with many artistic fields to showcase her flair, including bold hair colors and cuts, vintage-repurposed clothes design and hairdressing services. Griffith was eager to take on new challenges and wanted to make her mark in the world.
Academic Pursuits
Griffith’s passion for literature was not limited to her design work. She loved calligraphy, but poetry was her true passion. As a poet and a reader, she wrote poems that gave her hints into her inner life. Her poems were a source of inspiration and comfort for her and others who read them.
Griffith felt a strong connection to her family. She was named after the family of her maternal great grandmother’s side, from Terrell in Texas. Griffith embodied the feistiness and compassion that they were known for, while also showing compassion for animals.
Life is never easy
Griffith’s life was not always easy. Her physical limitations increased after she suffered injuries in her early years that threatened her vitality. This did not dampen Griffith’s spirit, and she continued to search for the path which best fitted her.
Griffith’s life was filled with love, courage and joy despite the many challenges she faced. She nurtured relationships, both new and old, to bring energy and happiness into her immediate circle. Her twin sister Schel, whom she considered a confidante, friend, and critic, as well as Gwynn Mason and Wilson Mason, her parents, family, and friends, played a key role.
A Lasting Tribute
Griffith Anne Mason died unexpectedly in Austin, Texas on 10 January 2020. Her memory and the hole she left in our hearts will never be filled. Her legacy is carried on by those who remain behind. She was a source of warmth and strength for everyone she knew.
Griffith’s family remembered her with great affection and reverence. To pay a lasting tribute to her, they suggested that donations be made to Nexus Recovery Center (or another charity) in lieu of flowers. They believed this would honor her memory and support causes that reflected her values and compassion during her lifetime.
Griffith Anne Mason has a life filled with vivid colors, bold patterns and intricate design that continues to inspire. Her life, though cut short by death, was filled with brilliance and resiliency that still resonate. Her story is a testament to human perseverance and how one person’s actions can affect many lives for ever.
