Jennifer Moreno shared the sad news via social media and paid their last respects, thanking Eddie for being strong throughout this ordeal and saying their farewell with “Fly High, Son.” She concluded with, wishing Eddie farewell by writing on social media “Now it is free now, fly high now… we miss you”.
Eddie Moreno passed away peacefully during the night following a serious car accident that rendered him disabled for nearly 13 years, at age 30. Jennifer Moreno confirmed his passing via social media and noted how bravely her son fought until his last breath to live his life fully.
She told him a farewell message before bidding him farewell: “Sky High! Now You Are Free!”
Eddie Moreno was an Alamo Heights High School basketball player when he participated in an on-road incident during his senior year of 2011. At 17 years old, Moreno found himself sitting behind in his cousin’s vehicle after an argument between vehicles led to an on-road confrontation which resulted in shootings from both vehicles involved.
Eddie was shot only once by one bullet that caused serious spinal damage that left him immobilized from his neck down. It happened around 22:30 AM on March 26, 2011 on Loop 410 Access Road near Broadway and resulted in permanent paralysis for Eddie.
Who Was Eddie Moreno? Eddie Moreno was well known amongst his extended family for his athletic achievements at Alamo Heights High School and became paralyzed after an incident caused by road rage when he was only 17 years old.
Eddie persevered even after initially being dropped as a freshman but eventually earned himself a position on the varsity team during his final year at high school. Charlie Boggess praised Eddie’s positive outlook and described him as his “spark”. Eddie always kept pushing forward; no bad day ever hit.
