Carlo Ancelotti has done an outstanding job since returning to Real Madrid in 2021. Following their trophyless 2009/10 campaign – missing out on La Liga and exiting in Round 16 of Champions League competition – Carlo has led Real Madrid back into contention and secured their success ever since his comeback.
His team won La Liga during his debut year and went on to claim Copa del Rey glory and reach semi-finals of Champions League the following year. When he first joined, in 2021, they signed a three-year contract but as soon as his last year started internet rumors started spreading about his exit from Madrid.
Many media outlets reported he would become Brazil’s new head coach; now has inked a two-year extension contract which will see him remain at Madrid until 2026.
Real Madrid and Girona have tied in La Liga standings and will aim to capture victory after coming close in 2023. Their opponents in Champions League Round 16 draw will be RB Leipzig.
Brazil was optimistic of Ancelotti’s appointment. Ancelotti first led Madrid from 2013-15 before returning in 2021 as manager – his contract would end by June 2024.
Brazilian Soccer Confederation insisted on Italian taking charge as manager after his contract with Real Madrid came to an end.
After Tite left to focus on World Cup 2022 preparations, CBF were so certain of finding their ideal manager that they appointed Ramon Menezes first as caretaker and later current Fluminense boss Fernando Diniz as interim manager until next summer – believing they could lure Ancelotti over from Italy.
Diniz, former manager for Milan, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain has decided to remain in his current post and will need to go back into planning mode again, increasing Diniz’s chances of landing permanent employment with one of these teams.
Initial speculation had it that Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti may take over as permanent manager for Brazil following Tite’s firing post-World Cup, however the news of his contract renewal delighted Real Madrid fans and has brought great satisfaction; following one of their most remarkable UCL campaigns ever with three incredible comebacks at knockout stage level this past 2022 season under him; ultimately winning their 14th UCL championship title!
